Dear friends,

I am getting really excited as the date of ISME conference is approaching. Below is the schedule for YPFG sessions. I hope to see you there!

YPFG Poster Session:
21 July, 2008 (Mon), 13.00-15.00

YPFG Symposium 1:
Young Professionals’ Research Workshop
22 July, 2008 (Tue), 9.00-11.00 am, UN5

YPFG Symposium 2:
Innovative Ideas for Music Education - Young Professionals’ Focus Group session
23 July, 2008 (Wed), 15.00-17.00, UN5

YPFG Symposium 3:
Tradition and Change in Chinese Music Education - Young Professionals’ Focus Group session (in Chinese with English interpretation)
24 July, 2008 (Thu), 15.00-17.00, UN5

I have requested for a time for social gathering for all YPFG members, presenters, mentors, and anybody interested in the work of YPFG. It should be called "Meeting the Young Professionals". I am still waiting to know when and where it will be. If I don't get this information before I leave, please make sure that you check the conference schedule upon arrival at the conference so that you will be informed of this gathering and will attend.

The members of YPFG are also invited to a special session on Tuesday afternoon, 22 July. This session will be a collaboration between ISME YPFG and EAS (European Association for Music in Schools) Student Forum. The plan is as follows:
- At the start of the session, one or two of the YPFG members will give a short introduction as to what the group is and how it hopes to develop within ISME. Members of the EAS Student Forum will also give a short introduction to EAS and the Student Forum idea. Then, there will be activities so that the participants can exchange experiences (in groups) and get to know each other - e.g. addressing some specific questions and sharing the answers.

This sounds very interesting and it is the first time we are doing it. So if you want to participate, please email me and I will put your name down as a YPFG representative and send you an invitation. This is a closed session, and so only those with an invitation can attend. In other words, you must register with me first if you want to attend. I hope many of you will want to participate!

That's it for now. Thanks for your support to YPFG.

Best wishes,
Lily
